Choate Construction is one of the largest general contractors in the Southeast specializing in Preconstruction, Design-Build, LEED Programming / Implementation and Construction Management services for multiple market sectors including (Automotive, Corporate, Distribution, Entertainment, Food / Beverage, Hospitality, Mixed-Use, Resorts, Retail, Senior Living, Industrial / Manufacturing, Institutional and Interior Construction)
How do you describe your job to people outside the industry?
As a Project Executive at Choate Construction Company, I focus on the pursuit of new opportunities and projects, broadening our client base, and furthering industry relationships within the food and beverage processing and distribution markets.
Who are your main competitors and what differentiates you from the competition?
What makes you unique?
Choate is a 100% employee-owned company where 79% of the executives have been with the company for over 15 years. With a focus on reputation, we are proud to hold an 85% rate of repeat clients. Due to financial strength and depth of expertise our annual volume has continued to grow within the past 5 years and topped $1.2 billion in 2017. Choate has received many notable distinctions including being named the 2017 Southeast Contractor of the Year by ENR magazine. In addition to our achievements in the construction industry, our employees are members of various professional and personal organizations with a strong backbone of charitable involvement. Choate is continually recognized as one of the top corporate fundraisers for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, having raised over $3 million to date.

Founded in 1989, Choate was a basement start-up by Millard Choate which has grown to over 450 employees across 5 offices.

I was born and raised in Atlanta.
What is your number one business goal over the next year?
My number one business goal over the next year is broadening our client base, and furthering industry relationships within the food and beverage processing and distribution markets.
What is the best advice you have received regarding doing business with the Dutch/Americans?
Whether for business or social engagements punctuality is essential and expected in the Americans / Dutch business culture. If you know that you will be late, make sure to call in advance and excuse yourself with a valid reason.

In my free time I enjoy playing golf, tennis and weekend Boy Scout trips with my two Sons. This year I will be blessed to celebrate 25 years of marriage to my wonderful wife.
