How do you describe your job to people outside the industry?  
YER helps European companies recruit the best talent for their American organizations and so prevents costly hiring mistakes.

Who are your main competitors and what differentiates you from the competition? What makes you unique?
In staffing and recruitment there are a lot of competitors. Both larger  firms as well as small businesses and independent contractors. What sets YER-USA apart is our exceptionally high level of professionalism in our consultancy; and our focus on matching European based organizations and/or European hiring managers with the best local American and Canadian professionals.

How was the business started?      
YER was founded in the Netherlands in 1987. It’s still independently owned by our founders. In 1999 YER became market leader in the Netherlands and the expansion into other countries such as Belgium, Germany, Spain and to the USA in 2007 was a natural result of our growth and our partnership with International operating clients.

How many employees does the business have?  
We have over 200 employees worldwide and we currently have 9 in the United States.

How did you end up in Atlanta?
Atlanta is a very attractive location because it hosts the world’s busiest airport, which is a great gateway to other markets in North-America where we work. And because Atlanta hosts a large number of diverse and International companies.

 What is your number one business goal over the next year?  
We recently opened our second US office location in Denver, CO. Profitable growth of our business in the US remains the number one goal for us.

What is the best advice you have received regarding doing business with Americans/Dutch?
When an American is nice to you (s)he does not necessarily like you or your product. If a Dutch person is blunt/not nice to you (s)he is not necessarily aware of this and it is  very likely (s)he likes you and your product.

I am married to Johnna, who is American, a writer and very involved in foster care. My 2 children; Olivia (20) and Jan (19) are both in college and are becoming a lot smarter than Dad. I love placing the best candidates for my European clients in the Americas, travel, swim, read and spend time with family and friends. Our family attends Perimeter church in Norcross and we reside in Johns Creek.
